Event Descriptions

Switch Build

Learn how to build low-cost accessible paddle switches from corrugated plastic and aluminum tape. All switches that we build through these workshops are donated (along with switch-adapted toys) through our Toy Donation Program.
Adapt-A-Book

Adapted books have added sensory materials, pages that are easier to turn, and other modifications to increase engagement with early literacy for children with disabilities. At an Adapt-A-Book workshop, we will adapt board books with hot glue and craft materials to create “touch and feel” elements, highlight key words, and add page “fluffers” that help with page-turning.
Sidewalk Mapathon

The UW Makeability lab helps run Project Sidewalk , which helps improve accessibility in cities. We can help you host a mapathon event where participants can compete to label the highest percentage of a target area in a city, while learning about crowdsourcing data, computer vision, and city planning.
Switch Adapted Toys

Toy adaptation for accessible play is a key component of HuskyADAPT’s mission. We are always happy to share information about our program and demonstrate a variety of toys that we have switch-adapted (especially spin art – a crowd favorite!) at outreach events in the Seattle area.
GoBabyGo

UW Go Baby Go! modifies battery operated, ride-on cars to meet the specific needs of each child in order to provide mobility and socialization for children with limited motor function. We are more than happy to share information about this program and bring 1-2 demo cars to outreach events in the Seattle area.
